En 2014, una serie de reformas energéticas promulgadas por el gobierno mexicano abrieron la petrolera estatal Petróleos Mexicanos, o PEMEX, al mercado libre y la inversión extranjera. Estas reformas permitirán que GiGo Transport Inc. se alinee con proveedores mundiales para la comercialización de productos energéticos. México es un importador neto de gas natural, y la mayoría de las importaciones llegan a través de gasoductos desde Estados Unidos. México importó un total de 779 Bcf de gas natural; 620 Bcf provinieron de Estados Unidos en 2012. Las exportaciones de gas natural de Estados Unidos y casi el 80% de las importaciones de gas natural de México.
